We’re taught from a young age how to care for our physical body—
Brush your teeth.
Wash your face.
Take a shower.
Clean your room.
But no one teaches us how to clean our energy.
And yet, so many of the symptoms we carry—tightness in our chest, chronic overthinking, low-grade anxiety, emotional heaviness—aren’t just psychological or physical. They’re energetic. They’re remnants of unprocessed emotion, old stories, and external energies we’ve unconsciously absorbed.
In the same way dirt builds up on the skin, stagnant energy builds up in the body. And if we don’t release it regularly, it manifests as tension, disconnection, fatigue, and that “off” feeling you can’t quite explain.
This is why energetic hygiene isn’t a luxury—it’s a soul survival skill.
So, what is energetic hygiene?
Think of it like brushing your energetic teeth. It’s the daily, intentional practice of clearing out what doesn’t belong to you, processing what’s trying to move through you, and restoring your natural state of clarity and calm.
And no—you don’t need sage sticks or crystal grids to get started. (Although, if you love those tools, use them!) This is about learning to work with your body, not bypass it.
Beginner’s Guide: 5 Simple Ways to Clear Your Energy
Here are five gentle, accessible ways to start tending to your energy every single day:
1) Breathe With It
When you feel a wave of emotion rise—anger, grief, sadness—pause.
Instead of pushing it away, breathe through it.
Set a timer for 3 minutes. Close your eyes. Inhale deeply through your nose, and exhale out your mouth.
No fixing. No analyzing. Just breathing with it.
Energy moves when we stop resisting it.
2) Give It a Voice
Speak it. Write it. Externalize it.
Name the energy. What color is it? What shape? Where is it sitting in your body?
Then, visualize it exiting with every exhale.
This is not about dramatizing—it’s about giving your energy a way out.
3) Water Cleanse
Water is one of nature’s most powerful purifiers.
Next time you shower, set the intention to release what isn’t yours.
As the water flows over you, imagine it carrying away stress, fear, or anything that feels heavy.
Visualize it going down the drain. Let it all go.
4) Shake It Out
Energy loves movement. When we’re stagnant, so is our emotional state.
Put on music that makes you feel alive.
Shake. Dance. Jump. Stretch. Let your body lead.
It’s not about performance—it’s about liberation.
5) Touch the Earth
Take off your shoes. Stand barefoot on the ground.
Visualize anything heavy draining out through the soles of your feet and being composted by the Earth.
Let yourself be held by something bigger. Grounding brings your scattered energy back home.
Energetic hygiene doesn’t have to be elaborate.
But it does have to be consistent.
Because we live in a world full of noise, expectations, projections, and other people’s emotions. And unless we learn to clear and protect our energy, we carry all of it—consciously or not.
Your energy is sacred. Tend to it the way you tend to the people you love.
